CONTENT • We will cover twenty core studies that have been selected by Cambridge. These twenty studies reflect on five important perspectives of Psychology: • Cognitive Psychology • Social Psychology • Developmental Psychology • Physiological Psychology • Psychology of Individual Differences
CONTENT cont. • These core studies have been chosen to allow you to demonstrate: • knowledge and understanding of approaches to the solution of problems • the ability to analyze and evaluate some of the cultural, social and ethical implications of psychology • the ability to apply psychological concepts to practical problems and to everyday life
SUPPLIES • You are expected to bring the following supplies with you everyday to class. • 1 three inch binder • dividers • notebook paper • #2 pencils • black or dark blue ink pens • Psychology studies (provided to you) • Do not ask me for paper, pencil or a pen, it is not my responsibility to provide supplies to you. If you find your self in need of any supplies please see guidance or the school store located in the front office before school or during your lunch.
GRADES Perspective Unit Exams & Core Study Tests 65% Class (including homework reading quizzes) 25% Homework 10% TOTAL 100%
TEST & EXAMS Tests will be given on each of the twenty studies. These tests will consists of 20 – 25 multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank and true or false questions. The four core studies from each unit will be averaged and count as one exam. A unit exam will be given for each perspective (5). Each unit exam will be structured to reflect the format of the AICE Psychology exam.
READING As with any advanced course, not all material will be covered in class. It is your responsibility to keep up with any and all assigned readings. You will take notesfrom power points, lectures and study You will be provided a copy of each study. You may highlight and take notes on these studies. It is your responsibility to bring this these studies to class everyday and to keep your notebook organized. An electronic copy of each study can be located on my website. If you lose or damage your copy of the study it is your responsibly to print another.

HOMEWORK Homework consist of reading, notes, and completing assigned work in your notebook or online (TBA).

CLASSROOM POLICY cont. Lockers, getting a drink and going to the restroom will be completed before the tardy bell. NO restroom use during the first/last 10 minutes of class. Restrooms are for emergencies only and will not become a daily routine (if you have a medical issue please see me privately after class ASAP). DO NOT ask me to use the restroom, this disrupts the class and is very bothersome. Simply get up, walk around the back of the room, sign out and go to the restroom. If I feel the bathroom is becoming a problem all bathroom privileges (except medical) will end and no one will be allowed to use the bathroom during class time.
ATTENDANCE This class will move rather quickly. It is your responsibility to attend school regularly. If you are absent: check with a classmate, check the website and check the assignment box. If you still have questions see me at the end of class. All make-up work is your responsibility; I will not seek you out for missed assignments. If you miss a quiz, test, or exam be prepared to take the assignment upon your first day back. If you missed the review of an announced quiz, test, or exam you will still be expected to take the assignment at the assigned day and time. All assignments missed due to and unexcused absences will be entered as a zero in the gradebook. Preparing for a school-sponsored event such as Drive for Life, Relay for Life, etc., will not be excused for any reason.
Academic dishonesty and cheating: Consequences for academic dishonest are as follows: • automatic zero • parent notification/conference • removal from National Honors Society • possibly the removal from the NMHS AICE program. • Students are not permitted to work together unless instructed to do so by me.
