  3. Sentinel Clinic Vs HH survey Clinic base: Key issues • It works best if linked supplementation programme e.g MCHN • Not representative of the population targeted ( U5 population) as compared to the community approach. • Why? Majority of children coming to the clinic are sick children.

  4. Household survey: • It provide good trend estimates but not absolute values. • Depended on the methodology used • The quality of data collected ( quality assurance is very important)

  5. Key issues: • Frequency of the surveillance • Indicators collected through the system • The use of the information

  6. Recommendations: • Use clinic system if it’s linked supplementation where children are targeted through the WBC • Household pair survey for community approach as opposed following the same HH/children. • Minimum indicators and frequency should be linked to the purpose & use of information
