PIP General Timeline • PIP hits the road in Jan 2011 with two day workshop • PIP plan goes to DOE - Spring 2011 • DOE agrees in general with budget/schedule • Not a RLS • Labor estimates are just that – estimates • Most Tasks are not fully defined • FRA, URA all strongly support PIP - Summer 2011 • FY12 – first dedicated $$ show up/effort increases • DOE now wants a PIP handbook with RLS & more • Laboratory/AD Budget exercises start
PIP/Task Force – DOE numbers • FY11 --- $0 to 1.4M DONE • FY12 --- $6.2M On schedule to be spent….. • FY13 --- $6.4M This gets very difficult – ramping up • FY14 --- $13.3M Big money = lots of work • FY15 --- $12.3M Big Money = lots of work • FY16 --- $6.4M Finish off project? • TOTAL M&S --- $44.6M • * all subject to ~14% M&S overhead costs – so 44M$ is really ~38M$ direct M&S availability
Schedule • Laboratory and DOE • The PIP is important and underway and the questions they ask: • Show us the RLS • How’s it going • Do you have any problems? • Do you have the labor? • Do you reach the flux? • When can you run 15Hz • Where are the Cockcroft Walton going? • This is a difficult task – very fast and very demanding
PIP Management Schedule • FINISH RLS!!!! • Look for labor or $$ shortcomings FY 12,13,14,15,16,17 • Look at long term schedule vs. goals • 15 Hz by May 2013 • Flux by 2015 or 2016 • Reports • Complete PIP Handbook to DOE due in early January • Includes RLS • Includes Proton Improvement Management Pan (PIMP) • Include Proton Improvement Physics Outline • Start Lab PIP PMGs and look at stated milestones
