Toch blijft Latijn in gebruik • Niemand had Latijn nog als moedertaal, maar ... • Zie titel • Oorzaak : Latijn was taal van de Kerk (en christendom was heel populair geworden) • Andere domeinen : wetenschappen, geneeskunde, recht en politiek • Ontdekkingsreizigers verpreiden Latijn ook buiten Europa • Latijn was dus een wereldtaal (cfr. Engels nu)
