The Whiskey Rebellion was a fight over taxes imposed on whiskey and paid by farmers Washington sent an army of 15,000 to end the revolt Whiskey Rebellion (pg 286)
What message was Washington sending by sending troops? • If citizens wished to change a law they had to do it by peaceful means or force would be used against them.
Battle of Fallen Timbers(pg 287) • The Native Americans demanded that all settlers north of the Ohio River leave their territory • Washington first sent General St. Clair and when he was defeated they sent General Anthony Wayne • The Native Americans were defeated and had to surrender most of present day Ohio

Jay’s Treaty was an agreement between Britain and America that eased tensions and stopped the possibility of them going to war Jay’s Treaty was controversial because although the British agreed to evacuate their troops from America and pay damages to ships it didn’t stop impressment of sailors.
