In a cave, at the bottom of Wawel Hill thereoncelived a terrible fire-belching dragon. He roamedaround and didwhatever he wanted to.
One day, a younghandsome but poorshoemaker’sapprenticenamed KRAK asked the king if he couldtry to slay the dragon. To king’ssurprise, Krak had no armor, neither a horse nor a sword. What he had was justhistools and a plan
The boy bought a deadsheep from a butcher and somesulphur (the powderthatisused in makingmatches) from a miner.
He put the sheep by the dragon’scave and waitedbehindthe rock for the dragon to come out. After a while, the greedy dragon came out and greedilyate the animal. The sulphurcaughtfire, like a match, and the dragon felthisstomachburning. He ran to the river and starteddrinkingwater. He drankso much that he filleduplike a balloon. Suddenly the dragon went BANG and exploded!
Exactlywhat the shoemakerhadplanned At last the peoplewerefree of him. Allstarted to cheer. Krak and the princess married. Afterherfather, the King, died, Krak became King, as promised. He builta castle on top of the Wawel Hill and for hundreds of yearsit was where the Kings of Poland lived. People built a cityaround the hill, whichtheynamedKrakow, aftertheirnew king.
