  20. Scholarship Information Scholarships are posted in the CHHS Career Center. Hard copies of most non-institutional scholarships are available in the College & Career Center. Don’t forget to check with any local organizations, banks, employers, credit unions, and insurance companies. You can start applying for some scholarships your Junior year. Large database of scholarship information, awards available for academic achievement, special skills and talents, and/or financial need. www.fastweb.com www.scholarships.com www.gacollege411.org Remember – you should never pay for scholarship searches or information!

NCAA Eligibility Center • Juniors who intend to play division 1 or division 2 college level sports should register this year with the NCAA • The website is www.eligibilitycenter.org.There is a link for prospective student-athletes (includes frequently asked questions) • Review the “Eligibility Standards” • Registration cost is $70.00 (fee waivers available) • ACT/SAT scores must be sent directly to the eligibility center– the code is 9999 • High School transcript must also be sent to the eligibility center. See Ms. Walker. The cost is $2.00 • You must contact a college coach to be referred to NCAA

Looking at Options for Post-Secondary Study • Four-year Colleges and Universities many majors offered leading to undergraduate degrees • Two-year Colleges offer freshman and sophomore level classes toward an associate degree and/or transfer to a 4-year school • Technical Colleges certificate, diploma and 2-year degree programs leading directly to employment upon completion of specialized training • Special Purpose Schools focus on specific fields such as the arts or medical specialties

Applying to College • Complete Senior Brag Sheet • Choose 3-5 schools • Make comparisons, look at program of study, consider cost, etc. • Contact particular college for specific information about courses needed in high school (i.e., Math, Science). • Apply on-line • See Ms. Walker in the Career Center to have transcript sent • Have SAT/ACT scores sent directly from testing agency • Visit Cappex.com for information and helpful worksheets
