  1. Mike van Ahlers • Computational Thinking: • Computational thinking acted as the intro to the world of computers that we were about to discover. • During this section I became more fluent with a computer . • I now know all the shortcuts and breezy key strokes that make computing fast and efficient • We were also educated on how networks and computers work • Almost as if I had • conquered the computer! Visual Programming with Alice • This section was my personal favorite • We did visual programming and that is what interests me about computer science • We used methods and parameters to create our virtual realities that we created through some complicated programming • We even saved some frogs from a hawk! Adventures in CSE 3! • Dynamic Web Page Programming with JavaScript • In this section we did the most intense programming of the whole class • It wasn’t that hard however it required much more focus than the other programs • In JavaScript there is no room for errors which made it fun and challenging • We used functions and variables to create programs such as a drink order in a layout called Java Juice and even a donation system • It was fun learning the basics of programming and I'm excited to go further into the realm of Computer Science. Data Analysis and Visualization in Microsoft Excel • Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages • It was fun learning the basics and we created simple html documents • One example is our career document • Creating my first program using code was a pretty exciting experience. • This section of our class I see to be one of the most useful • It is very important for one to stay organized for it improves efficiency greatly • Learning to be fluent with Excel will be a great tool in life Java Juice • Presentation of information with Microsoft PowerPoint • Desktop Publishing with MS Word • Using the powerful techniques of my HTML formatting I was able to create a internet desktop page with all different kinds of text • Tables, underlines, bold, italics, you name it and I could do it on a web page • This section also made Microsoft Word a lot easier to use • There are shortcuts and tools that I learned about that I had no idea they existed and I have been using word for over 8 years! • In this section we learned all about creating graphs and charts through Microsoft PowerPoint • These will come useful when I am creating presentations for future class or jobs
