  2. Aims • Outline a sample of staff volunteering activities. • Consider how volunteering could: • Enhance your job satisfaction • Develop your skills • Further your career opportunities • Contribute to the local community

  4. Up For Sport • Part of the widening participation agenda • Supports community partnerships • Volunteer coaching opportunities

  6. The Girls Network Mission: to inspire and empower girls by connecting them with a network of positive female role models.

  7. My journey so far: • Was I the kind of person they were looking for? • How would I know what to do? • Who / how would I be mentoring? • And now…….?

  8. School Governors Do you want to develop your strategic business skills whilst giving something back to education? Do you want to make a difference to young people and learn more about your local community? Do you like a challenge? Have you ever wanted to get behind the information you hear on the news about school performance?

  9. What does a School Governor Look Like? Every governing body needs a mix of different backgrounds, skills and experience.  Transferable job-related skills are valuable, but not essential - having enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to ask questions is just as important.  And you don't have to have children either……

  11. FoodCycle builds communities by combining volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.

  12. Users of the service include: • older people, • mental health service users, • homeless people, • low-income families, • asylum seekers and refugees • the long term unemployed

  13. Getting Involved: Preparing food, laying tables, serving, clearing up (Sign up on line) Old Portsmouth John Pounds Centre Tuesday evenings (5.00pm – 9.00pm) Somerstown St Peters Hall Thursday evenings (4.00pm – 8.00pm)
