  2. ГЛАУКОМА Glaucoma • „Glaucoma is one of the insidious eye diseases, because it is free of pain and it has developed over decades. Untreated gradually it leads to an irreparable loss of sight. One of the risk factors for glaucoma is the age, that is why periodical examinations at an eye specialist for early diagnosis should take place.“http://www.worldglaucoma.org/ • „Глаукома - это одно из распространённых глазных заболеваний, которое по причине отсутсвия боли может медленно развиваться в течение десятилетий.   20. Is a medical condition predominantly found in elderly adults in which the center of the inner lining of the eye (macula) an area of the retina suffers thinning and bleeding. Can result in loss of central vision, which means that in the beginning you do not see fine details, you cannot read and you cannot recognize faces. Disease of the optic nerve Involvin loss of retinal ganglion cells Raised intraocular pressure is a significant risk factor for developing glaucoma Glaucom can develop with low and high eye pressure Untreated glaucoma leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and resultant visual field loss, which can progress to blindness. Glaucoma comes over a long time and may only be recognized when it is already quite advanced Once lost, this damaged viusual field can never be recovered. Worldwide, it is the second leading cause of blindness. Glaucoma affects one in two hundred people aged fifty and younger, and one in ten over the age of eighty.
