  8. 300,000 people are in the armed forces • This is the army, navy (marines), airforce • 233,000 active personnel in the armed forces • Not very stable at times in Aceh and Papua where there has been armed conflict • There was a 30 year war between the GAM (Free Aceh Movement) and the Indonesian Military • The new president is making the country better little by little • Overall Indonesia is not very politically stable
