Missing work can be found in the make-up work folder • All late or missing work should be completed and turned in no later that 3 class periods after their return. • Students must collect make-up before school, except for Wednesday. This is order to not disturb class time. • Students will be expected to take all missed quizzes upon their arrival back to class. • Students who miss a test should schedule a time to take their test before school. This test should be made up before their next unit test
Missing/ Late work • All late work will be marked as a zero and late until the assignment is turned in. • All late work will be counted off 20 points per class period • All missing assignments, quizzes, projects, and test will be marked as a zero until the assignment is made up
Retakes and Redos What qualifies a student for a retake The science department defines substandard work as a 69 or below. Only tests with scores of 69 or below on summative tests are eligible for a redo Teacher discretion supersedes all parts of this policy. Page 23 in the Rankin County student handbook states, “ The opportunity to redo can be rescinded if a student abuses the opportunity.” What can disqualify a student from a retake • All formative work must be turned in prior to the unit test. (Once the unit test has been given, no formative assignments will be accepted.) • Zeros on formative work will disqualify a student from a summative retake.
Retakes and Redos How many can a student retake? No more than 2 summative retakes per nine weeks What must a student do before the retake can occur Teacher approved remediation which consists of 3 consecutive mornings (this may include morning tutoring and/ or extra assignments). This must be scheduled within one week of receiving graded work When will a student retake a test? The test will be scheduled on the 4th consecutive morning before school automatically Parents may be notified of retake

All homework turned after the first 5 minutes of class will be counted as late. (-20 points) • Headings should be on the left top corner on the top right corner of your paper. It should include the following: Name first and last, block, and date. Papers without the proper heading will be counted off 5 points. Papers that can not be identified will be result in a zero.
Extra Credit Assignments • Every time you take a test you have a chance to earn extra credit. • If you make a handwriting study guide using all the terms and objective from your note essentials, you will receive 5 bonus points. • Only completed note essentials will received 5 bonus points • Note Essentials can be found on my website. http://www.rcsd.ms/~nicole.mcgarrity/
Getting your Attention There may be times when I may need to get everyone’s undivided attention so that I may give directions, explanations, answer group questions, etc. or if the noise level gets too loud. Clap once, clap twice, stomp 1 time) • Stop talking and look at me. • Wait for me to speak. • This procedure should take us no more than 10 seconds.

These are the following consequences in this classroom. 1st offense: Verbal Warning 2nd offense: Teacher conference in the hall or after class 3rd offense: Call or email to parents 4th offense: Thursday Morning detention before school and a call home 5th offense: office referral For behavior that is deem severely inappropriate, such as verbal attacks towards another student or a teacher and/or physical violence may bypass consequences of 1st- 4th offense.
Food, drinks, and gum • Although Custodial Staff are conscientious and work extremely hard, it is difficult to achieve optimal standards of cleanliness when food and drinks are allowed to be consumed in the classrooms. • When food and drinks are consumed in classrooms, they spill, soiling the floor and carpet. As a result, spills are tracked throughout buildings, further complicating the cleaning program. • Restricting food and drink reduces custodial workload, promotes cleanliness, prevents damage to carpet and floors, and ultimately conserves school funds and resources. • Food, drinks, and gum are prohibited from being consumed in class. All food, drinks, and gum consumed in class will be deposed of willing or otherwise.
