How do you feel about reading books? • How did dracula come to america? • Ergasiophobia – fear of work. • Goals – Refresh our memory of TKAM by doing Ch. 9 question and discussion of the transition chapter. Sharing favorite parts. Figuring out vocabulary. • Homework – Read chapter 19 in TKAM. Read the parts of the chapter that have to do with the “n-word.” Why should we not use it? Don’t forget to study for the vocabulary 20 on Friday.

Explain why. • What did Mrs. Bullet say to Mr. Bullet? • Formication – A feeling that ants are crawling all over one’s skin. • Goals – Discuss the ch. 9,10,11,12 from TKAM, Author’s purpose. • Homework – Read and annotate chapter 20 in TKAM.

Examine the character of Atticus use text based evidence. • Homework – Read and annotate chapter 21 in TKAM. Write a well thought out analysis of Atticus’s character; use text based evidence.

What does Jem gain from it? • Don’t take life so seriously; nobody gets out alive. • Anhedonia – an inability to be happy. • Goals – Work on chapters 11 and 12. Write responses to the essay prompts for those two chapters. • Homework – Read and annotate chapter 22 in TKAM. Respond to this question: One conclusion that can be drawn from Chapter 13 is that Atticus does not agree with his sister. Provide two details from the text to support this conclusion.
