What is Effective Communication • Defined: Producing a strong or desired outcome through the exchange of information. • YouTube - Who's On First?
The chain of communication • Principal – Oversees the entire school program, must be in the know. • Assistant Principal(s) works with the Athletic Director. • Athletic Director – Oversees the Athletic Program, Coaches and Players. • Student/Athlete – Participants • Parents/Guardians – Email, cell, twitter, etc.
Chain of communication • Community – website, newspaper, programs, announcements, etc.. • Local Media - ? • School system – Is there a supervisor, mentor or someone you can ask questions?
Administrator – Athletic Director • Always copy emails to each other on items/issues related to athletics. • Just a phone call and text message away? • Weekly meetings with Principal and/or Assistant Principal • Operational Leadership Team. • Meetings before big events. • Security/Police/Chaperones. • Alerting the media and other outlets.
