Our Testbed Network • Using satellite channel • Ku-band (JCSAT-1b) and C-band (JCSAT-3) • 1.5Mbps VSAT point-to-point channel • but now we are using unbalancing bandwidth assignment, such as 1.5Mbps from JP / 512Kbps from partners. • JP-ID is configured with 2.0Mbps/1.5Mbps since last year • 6Mbps C-band (JCSAT-3) Uni-directional (UDL) channel • With Receiving-Only stations • easy to install and to change both network topology and bandwidth. • star-shaped topology • AI3 HUBs (for Ku and C) in Japan • AI3 earth station at each partner as a RIM

Peering Status with APAN • Transit for APAN from AI3 Partners • AS4796, AS4767, AS9292, AS9821 • Started to advertize USM routes (AS 17815) to APAN • BGP peering between AI3 and APAN • APAN Tokyo XP is connected with both of SFC and NAIST

Future Plan (IPv6) • Current status • AI3 has NLA1 obtained from WIDE • Providing NLA2 to AI3 partners • Future plan • Are planning to have sTLA • We expect to operate BGP peering with APAN • Will provide NLA1 to AI3 partners
Future Plan (Other issues) • IOIT in Vietnam has got their AS number • Now, AI3 can provide transit route to IOIT • Many C-band UDL Partners joined • In addition to UDL, some partners experimentally start to use bi-directional satellite links, though link bandwidth is narrow • To get more reliable satellite links
SOI Asia-Pacific Project • Objective • Contribution to academic field in Asia-Pacific using ICT technology • Issues to be settled • Deployment of Internet environment in Asia • Development of contents and its delivery methods for the classes • Localization and internationalization of educational contents • Development of actual contents and its evaluation experiments
