Employee Development Plan(EDP) • Employee: Training Employee Developing Plan (EDP)
Organization Development Plan • The Organization Development Plan (EDP):is a comprehensive plan that enables organizations to look at innovative ways to improve employee morale and productivity. Employers will help employees set their goals and education planning. • All employees will be encouraged and rewarded for participating in the EDP in the organization. This will be achieved through developing professional growth plans and upgrading employees regularly. This will be achieved by developing the: • a) Promotion Plan for Employees • b) Professional Growth Plan and
Professional Growth • a) Professional Growth involves collaboration between the employers and employees. Employers are responsible for providing training and development opportunities. In exchange, employees are responsible for taking advantage of the opportunities and successfully completing the training they are offered. • This provides a clear statement to employees that the employer is interested and committed to their professional growth. It also focuses on the mutual commitment (employee and employer) necessary to make career development a reality.
Upgrading Employees • b) Upgrading Employees will enable employers to see them as more valuable resources of the company and provide them the responsibility of delegating duties as opposed to just doing them. • Upgrading employees also make them feel important which will lead to them giving in extra for a company to achieve their individual as well as company goals. • Organizations don’t grow but people do. The more employees grow the more the company grows. Growth is much more than a strategy. Growth can only happen when the right kind of leadership, internal processes and the environment come together.
Pro’s • Improve employee’s efficiency. • Helps overcome constraints and challenges in the work environment. • Provide problem solving way in a different perspectives. • Define the employee’s efficiency and areas of interest. • Employer is constantly reinventing relationship with employees.
Cons • Budget constraints. • Employees may hesitate to undertake the program apprehensive of its worth needing motivation • Employers may also need motivation to provide contributory program for development of its employees • Employers may not see the benefits of such a program and view it as a reduction of productivity. • Company culture may not be flexible enough for a new plan.
