  1. Dear Class, We missed you but hope that you had a wonderful holiday. This week we will be talking about building a classroom community based on respect. Our first job is to establish rules for Morning Meeting. On your desk is a card. Read the directions on the card, complete the assignment, and bring the card to Morning Meeting. • Card: Morning meeting should look like because: (draw a picture) • Morning meeting should sound like because(draw a picture) • Morning meeting should feel like because (how should it make you feel inside?) • Morning meeting is important because (explain why and draw a picture)

  2. Today is Day 2 of Building our Classroom Community. Think of a name for our classroom that reflects how we are as students. Please write your ideas on a piece of paper, explain why you chose it, and put it in the basket in the front of the room. After we decide on a name, we will be getting a class mascot and name him as well.

  3. Dear Courteous Class, It’s Day 3 of Classroom Community Building. Wow! Can you believe it is the middle of the week? Now it is YOUR turn. Please write on the paper on your desk, how you feel you have made the Classroom a special place and how you can make it even better. Is there a talent you can share? Can you brighten it with your art? Your poetry? Your writing? Recognizing kind deeds? This paper is only for you. I will be saving it and giving it to you at the end of the year
