  1. Home Safety – Just as important as On The Job Safety? Read below to find out. I have a home safety tip to share. This weekend I found myself in my attic investigating a water leak from an ice dam (see definition of ice dam in notes section). I wore long sleeves, safety glasses and gloves for protection against the fiberglass insulation and for some reason; I decided to put on a hard hat. At one point, while perched on the rafters, I lost my footing and instinctively jerked upright to maintain my balance. I felt my head smack the roof, then I crouched back down… minus my hard hat. I turned to see it impaled on a spike. My hard hat not only protected me from a nice knot in the noggin, but almost certain ventilation of my gray matter!  I left it there as a safety reminder.
