  7. Education • Used myths, folklore, and storytelling

  8. Religion • Polytheistic

  9. Native Americans lived off the land and taught the first Americans how to survive through hunting and farming

  11. Gold was discovered on Cherokee land in Georgia

  12. Georgia tried to push the Cherokee out

  13. Worchester v. Georgia • The Cherokee claimed they had a treaty with US government so they could not be pushed out by Georgia • The Cherokee filed a lawsuit that went all the way to the Supreme Court • The Supreme Court sided with the Cherokee

  14. Andrew Jackson refused to honor the decision made by the court

  15. Federal troops were sent in to remove the Cherokee instead of protecting them

  16. Trail of Tears – An 800 mile march which resulted in the death of ¼ of the tribe.
