Types of Friendships • A friendship: is a meaningful relationship between two people based on caring, trust, mutual respect, and shared interests or values. • A platonic friendship: is a relationship that is based on affection, but not sexual feelings. • You can have a friendships with different age groups
Starting, Maintaining and Ending a Friendship • It is a social skill you need • It is natural to be awkward at first • It involves effort to maintain them • It requires expression and good communication—to resolve indifferences
Dating: Different Types • Group Dates: Individuals get to know each other in a large group rather than in an individual setting. • Double Dates: 2 couples go together on an outing to a destination • Standard Date: 2 individuals will go together on an outing to a decided destination • Blind Date: Set up by an outside party: 2 individuals are meeting for the first time at a decided destination • Whose responsibility is it to initiate the first date?
