WP5 Objectives • Build a Network Service Centre (NSC) • Overall network coordination • Network engineering and operation • Automation of the services of the NSC (portal for network status monitoring) • Management of the relationships between GISELA, CLARA, GÉANT and NRENs in Latin America and Europe GISELA - First year Project Review - Brussels - 15/09/2011 3

Achievements (1/4) • Meetings • CLARATec - Meeting of the Technical Coordinators of the NRENs of the CLARA community: 23rd - 24th June 2011, Tegucigalpa, Honduras. • Outcome: GISELA / WP5 – GT-Mediciones agreement on monitoring system support • Virtual Meetings • 4 meetings GISELA – DANTE • Outcome: Specification of the Network monitoring system • 3 meetings GISELA – CLARA • Outcome: Adoption of CLARA's Ticket System GISELA - First year Project Review - Brussels - 15/09/2011 4

Plans for the 2nd year • Effectively handle VRC network requests by means of the Ticket System • Incorporate the system administrators of the RCs into the Ticket System of CLARA • Continue the deployment of the monitoring environment on the GISELA infrastructure • Develop a web application to store/retrieve statistics of the network performance • Complete the operations manual for the monitoring platform • In collaboration with WP3, WP6 and the VRCs, work out the network requirements of their applications GISELA - First year Project Review - Brussels - 15/09/2011 9

Conclusions • In spite of the slow start, WP5 has been able to perform its activities during the first project year • Significant steps taken towards the NSC establishment • Deployment of perfSONAR monitoring platform • Long term sustainability of perfSONAR guaranteed by an agreement with GT-Mediciones group GISELA - First year Project Review - Brussels - 15/09/2011 10
