WHAT WILL THE e-STANDARDS BODY DO? new independent body which aims to produce: • map existing standards • gap analysis for ‘missing’ standards • repository of e-government schemes • disseminate best practice • work towards standards accreditation
WHAT THE e-STANDARDS BODY IS NOT aims to collect and promote the standards work of the LGOL National Projects and other local e-Government schemes. BUT it is not • the National Project “Police Force” • “enforce” standardisation • a commissioning agent for work
WHY IS THE e-STANDARDS BODY NEEDED? many projects are active in the local e-government arena we need to: • ensure interoperability • promote best practice • reduce duplication • support joined up service delivery
WHO IS INVOLVED IN THE e-STANDARDS BODY? the Executive Board comprises key stakeholders: • leading local authority experts & practitioners • leading local authority standards specialists • Department of Health • Improvement and Development Agency • Local Government Association • Office of the Deputy Prime Minister • Office of the e-Envoy • Society of Information Technology Management • Society of Local Authority Chief Officers

WHAT IS THE e-STANDARDS BODY INITIAL PROGRAMME? • initial work now starting • need to appoint Chief Executive and staff • introductory work with National Projects • promote role & purpose of the Body • instigate mapping of existing territory: • possible best practice • possible duplication • possible gaps • initial repository of existing schemes
