Main Goals of Return to Villages and Rehabilitation Project: • To settle those who want to return to their villages on or around the lands of their former villages or on other suitable places, • To establish the necessary social and economic infrastructure, • To provide sustainable living conditions in these settlements, • To re-establish and vitalize the interrupted rural life, • To form a more balanced settlement design in the rural areas, • To achieve a more rational allocation of public investments and services, and • To support the development of central villages.
Main Goals of TMIDPS Project: • To develop policies and measures related to internally displaced persons who are exposed to severe problems as a result of their displacement in order to make them productive and beneficial for both themselves and the country, • To develop a model or models related to the rehabilitation of settlements and their sustainability where return to villages are convenient, • To assist the preparation of plans and their applications in selected rural settlements, • To find out the information on migrants’ previous place of residence, destination place, and characteristics and the size of internally displaced persons before and after the migration.
TMIDPS includes following information; • Demographic structure and the population movements of the region, • Migrant receiving places of residence, • Demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the migrants, • Socio-economic characteristics of the origin, • Socio-economic characteristics of the destination, • Causes of migration, • Problems of migrants faced in their new settlements, and • Identification of the level of satisfaction and expectations of those who have migrated due to armed conflicts and those who have returned regarding the use of public services.
Scope of the TMIDPS: 1) Geographical Area of the project: Adıyaman, Ağrı, Batman, Bingöl, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Hakkari, Mardin, Muş, Siirt, Şırnak, Tunceli, Van and the provinces that have received considerable migration from these 14 provinces.
Scope of the TMIDPS: 2) Target Population: This project will collect data on; • Basic information about the persons migrated from these 14 provinces, • Demographic and socio-economic characteristics of internally displaced persons, and • Detailed information about people who have migrated from their villages or usual residences during the last 20 years due to armed conflicts and security concerns.
