Legislation • Law on hydrometeorological services • Law on hydrographic services • Ordinance on detailed requirements regarding the equipment for performing meteorological and hydrological activities and operation of meteorological and hydrological stations • Ordinance about content of the unique database of the state of weather, climate and waters • Ordinance on the procedures, maintenance and use of official navigational charts • Decision on amount and payment method of fees for the use of data from the navigation charts, publications and hydrogprahic database All adopted: January 2014.
JASPPer IPA CBC project Croatia - Montenegro “Joint Actions for Sea Pollution Prevention”-JASPPer • One of the six approved projects of transboundary cooperation between Croatia and Montenegro • Croatian main partner is Hydrographic Institute from Split • Till now IHMS has implemented activities related to the development of cooperation between institutions responsible for the protection of the sea environment, lectures and trainings in aim of raising awareness on sea pollution….. • In the preparation is procurement of special laboratory equipment (TOC/TN analyzer, multi-parameter depth probe, instrument for measuring turbidity and ion selective electrode, current meter…)
II National communication of Montenegro to UNFCCC • II NC started in 2012., coordinated by UNDP and the Ministry of Sustainable development and Tourism • It includes the following activities : • Activity 1: Updating GHG inventory • Activity 2: Mitigation measures • Activity 3: Vulnerability assessment and adaptation measures • Activity 4: Updated information on other areas
Vulnerability assessment and adaptation measures • Observed climate change in Montenegro • Regional climate model with extreme weather events • Assessing Montenegrin water sector in the light of climate change • Assessing vulnerability of Montenegrin forest sector to climate change • Analysis and projections of climate change impacts on the future distribution and growth of the main tree species in Montenegro • Impact of climate change to human health http://www.unfccc.me
GIZ project Climate change adaptation in Western Balkan • Projects of technical support of German Government through GIZ offices in Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia • Project area Skadar Lake, river Morača and river Bojana
Current activities within GIZ project • On three meteorological stations and several hydrological stations already installed modems for GPRS data transmission • Server for data collecting and storage already in place • Minor construction and reparation works on some hydrological stations • In summer will start the works on construction of a new hydrological station Danilovgrad on Zeta river.

Regional Workshop on Hydrological Forecasting and Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources Budva, 24 – 27. September 2013. • Jointly organized by: • Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), • Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMSS) and • Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro (IHMS)
Director of IHO in Montenegro Montenegro initiative to become IHO member, has influenced the visit of the Director of International Hydrographic Office, Mr. Mustafa Iptes During his stay in Montenegro Mr.Iptes had meetings with the Minister of the Sustainable Development and Tourism; Deputy Minister of defense; and representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
Montenegro full-member of IHO On 3rd December 2013. Montenegro became a member of International Hydrographic Organization This membership will provide modern and more efficient functioning of hydrographic service, harmonization and implementation of the international standards in the areas of hydrography and oceanography. Additionally, IHMS has obtain the right of active participation in a different IHO working groups and bodies, what will create conditions for cooperation with other hydrographic services, exchange of knowledge and experience, and training of IHMS staff.
Cooperation with Hydrographic service of Norway Director of PRIMAR, as representative of Hydrographic service of Norway and Director of IHMS have signed an Agreement on cooperation The importance of this Agreem. lies in the fact that Norwegian Hydrographic Service is operator of PRIMAR ENC service, that is the service for electronic navigation charts.
First concrete steps have already been realized: • PRIMAR donated the software for ENC production • 5 persons were trained by the PRIMAR experts for the usage of the software and ENC production • The first Montenegrin ENC is already in PRIMAR catalogue (nautical chart of Boka Kotorska Bay) • 2 persons will go in Norway for additional training for ENC tools. Montenegrin ENCs will be available for all ships which sails around the world, and especially those in navigation in the Montenegrian part of the Adriatic Sea.
Nautical charts and publications In the framework of the 23rd Tourism Fair (Budva, 3-5. April 2014.), Institute has organized the presentation of nautical charts and publications, which are in the service of development of nautical tourism and promotion on the safety on the sea.
Celebration of World Meteorological Day 2014. On the occasion of the World Meteorological Day 2014. and in line with its theme „Weather and climate: Engaging youth “, IHMS has in cooperation with several primary and secondary schools, in several towns, organized lectures with the same theme. During the lectures to the students were introduced the phenomena of the climate changes, their impacts on the environment, and above all with the reason why this year theme was specially dedicated to them, to the youth.
