COMPACTNESS IN DEFENCE ORGANISATION: 30 x 25 area split into 10 x 25 thirds 4 players in each – middle group to work as defending unit CONTENT: Red keep possession in their third to create opportunity to play through middle third to yellow. Red and yellow can remain in position or rotate within their area as they move the ball. (condition players to do this to create more problems for blue as the session progresses). They should also be encouraged to play at a good tempo. COACHING POINTS: Nearest player press / delay – move as ball moves Body shape Organisation of defensive unit – cover, balance, support Angles, distances Communication PROGRESSIONS: Players must remain in their thirds Red and yellow – pass below head height, over head height, run / dribble ball through Blue can move into end thirds to press ball and tackle
