Awareness-raising WYPS message & promotion of the vision and actions Creation of a dynamic website that is interactive (encourage volunteers to translate site information into different languages) Sharing the WYPS message at all levels by speaking to youth groups and youth in our circle of influence Teach by example – be role models Peace awareness week/ World Peace Day activities Youth Peace achievement awards (long term) Integrating the WYPS vision and objectives in our organisations/networks Promote eco-friendly and ethical consumerism
Enhancing youth participation • Have national and local WYPS forums • Use the media (radio, newspapers etc) to inform • Request people to see the Website and make it accessible and user friendly • supporting and initiating projects at local level (peace seminars, service projects, projects that address basic needs, workshops, capacity building etc) • Ensure inclusion of women and minority groups in activities
Building and maintaining networks • Identify potential partners/donors who are sensitive to local constitution and environment and WYPS ideals, that will be able to provide resources • Seek out existing youth groups, universities etc to enlist the support of more young people • Have names of members on the website (you can contact people when you need to) • Use our existing contacts to promote WYPS
Using existing resources • Contact supporters to use their resources (radio networks, etc) to promote WYPS • Identify potential skills and expertise amongst the delegates that can help to achieve the action plan
Education • Each one, reach one (teach one)- taking responsibility of providing guidance and support to at least one individual in their endeavors • Youth exchange programs (religious, cultural, environment etc) • Awareness and participation in a country’s decision making process
Mediums for promoting peaceand raising funds • Use of the arts • Sports activities • Competitions, Exhibitions and Celebration of achievements of the group • Technology including Information Communication Technology (ICT) • Use influential young people to be ambassador of peace
Individual Commitments • Individual commitment to respect other cultures and religions and for the environment • Individual commitment to find inner peace while working for peace (explore own spirituality) • Teach by example – be role models in ACTION
Follow-up…. Develop a structure that will allow for review and tracking of the progress and effectiveness of all these initiatives with accountability.
