  11. Endemic Species – A species that is unique and confined to a specific habitat. • Succession - the process of a ecosystem giving rise to plants and eventually wildlife. • Ozone depletion – A steady decline in the total volume of the Earth’s ozone in the stratosphere

Invasive Species in PA • The Black and Brown Rat:introduced to the U.S. in the middle ages from European shipping transports. • Asian Lady Beetle: introduced from Asia looks like a lady bug, but it bites. Swarms homes this time of year for winter. • Brown MarmoratedStinkbug: from China, Japan and Korea, accidentally introduced in the U.S. Discovered in Allentown, PA in 1998, and has spread throughout the state. It is an agricultural hazard because it feeds on fruit trees.
