  4. Occupy Movement • Campus variation in police policies • 3 independent investigations being conducted • UCDPD • Academic Senate • Regents and Office of the President

  5. Sustainability Plan • Framework with the state • Predictable Tuition Policy • Leverage other revenue • Medical Centers • Research • Private Philanthropy • Intellectual Property • Improve Efficiencies

Student Support • Low income students qualify for Cal Grants • High income students pay the higher fees • Mid income students • Cal Grant income cap limits availability • Many can qualify for UC Grants • Most pay some or all of increases • Slight decline in mid-income family students • Mid income students borrow more than before

  7. Berkeley Middle ClassAccess Plan • Parent cap at 15% of their income • $80k to $140k • Student contribution $8,000-$9,000 • Combination of work and borrowing • UC Berkeley to fund the rest • Total annual costs $24,000 to $33,000 • Working on UC-wide program

  8. Regents • Student Health Realignment • Moving from student affairs to Chancellor and Health Sciences Departments • Technology Transfer • Decentralize from Oakland to Campuses • UCSF doing well with it • UC system could do a lot better
