Project Aims • Identify the current concerns /challenges facing the delivery of renal care across Europe as perceived by Presidents of National Associations • Explore the particular challenges encountered by healthcare workers in renal care • Determine where priorities need to be focused in terms of ensuring provision of quality care.
What is a Delphi survey Consensus methods employed to help enhance effective decision-making in health and social care. The Delphi survey is a group facilitation technique, An iterative multi-stage process, designed to transform opinion into group consensus
The Delphi Method • A structured group interaction process directed in "rounds" of opinion collection and feedback. • Opinion collection is achieved by conducting a series of surveys • The result of each survey will be presented to the group and the questionnaire used in the next round is built upon the result of the previous round
Data Collection • Data collection will be undertaken in a number of phases. - progressively focus on the key areas as determined by National Presidents. • Results of this Delphi study will inform future priorities and focus for research, practice & education activities within EDTNA/ERCA
Phase 1 • Initial focus group with sample of National Presidents during annual conference in Slovenia. • Generate potential items / areas / domains of concerns - the formation of survey
Online survey • Ease of use • Email link to survey • Items on a Likert scale • Approx 2 weeks to complete each survey
Study Phases • Phase 1 Focus Group (September 2011) • Phase 2 – Online Survey (Nov- Dec 2011) • Phase 3 – Online Survey (Feb – March 2012)
Study Results • Presentation of results at EDTNA/ERCA Conference 2012 in Athens • Publication which inform EDTNA/ERCA practice/ education & research priorities
