Tax Advantages of Qualified Plans • Plan contributions (employer contributions and employee salary reduction contributions) - tax deductible for employer - tax deferred for employee • Earnings on plan investments accumulate tax deferred • Some lump sum distributions may qualify for 10 year averaging
