  6. Scrabble Club Every Thursday during lunch in Mrs. Jarrell's room. Novices welcome! If you think you would like playing Scrabble, see Mrs. Jarrell or Joseph Laposata. 13

  7. Debate Debate practice is Mondays during lunch and Wednesday afternoons (3:15-4:15) in Mrs. Williams' room (215) .  Please come to either or both to prepare for our next tournament in late September.  13

Debate (cont.) • Congratulations to all of MLK's stellar new debaters! • At this weekend's tournament, our brand-new team placed in several categories: • Bille Dahir 9th and Andrea Dowlen 7th in the individual speakers, beginner division (out of more than 66 students) • Jordan Wayburn and Bille Dahir 7th - team award in the beginner division (out of 33 teams) • Zaheer Choudhury and Isaam Bahar 15th and Hanako Hashiguchi 12th - team awards in the advanced division 13

  10. French Club Come to our first French Club meeting of the year on Weds September 7th over lunch in Room 110! We will be making t-shirts for the club so bring a white t-shirt to paint. If you have any fabric paints, markers or anything you prefer to use, bring those too. Some materials will be on hand, but you must bring your own t-shirt. Dessert will be provided! Venez nombreux!   20. Lost Calculator There is a lost black TI-84 graphing calculator. It has an engraved name on the back, Sarah Wang, and was engraved by Ms. Smotherman. On the cover, there was a yellow dot as a sticker. If found, please return it to the office. 13

  21. Lost Purse There's a Rosetti Purse missing. It is a small black bag with a long shoulder strap. If you find it please turn it in to the office for the recipient to claim. 13

  22. Writing Tutorial • Need help with that upcoming essay? Can’t focus on all the reading you’re being assigned? • Come to Ms. GoForth’s and Mr. Tidyman’s English tutorial time, Tuesdays from 3:15-4pm in Mr. Tidyman’s room in the New Wing. Bring what you’re working on and a friend! 13

Helper Wanted! • Ms. Campbell and Guidance are looking for help from at least one responsible senior. • Will gather info, type emails, organize college brown-bag lunches, promote college-related events, maintain senior announcement board, etc. • Important: This person(s) will not be an aide. You will still report to study hall, but will check in with us daily. • If interested, talk to Ms. Campbell 13
