AIAA is the world’s largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. Nearly 20% of AIAA’s members live outside the United States: more than 6,000 professional and student members from 86 countries. Through its products, services, and activities, AIAA provides members of the global aerospace community with opportunities to exchange information, network, and collaborate on topics of interest. DRAFT submitted To AIAA VP International Input to AIAA Tactical Actions • Leverage our existing sister-society MOU’s, and future society partnerships, to connect and further invigorate international membership and participation in AIAA-sponsored activities • this will require working closely with Member Services, Technical Activities, and Education, to reach both traditional and emerging aerospace sectors in Region VII countries. • Highlight and honor the achievements of international members and their unique contributions to the state of the practice in Aviation & Space, and particularly the contributions of Young Professionals who represent the future of our profession. • Actively solicit the participation of senior international executives at appropriate levels of AIAA activities
DRAFT ROLES – distributed among the Directors-at-Large, International • Advise the President, VP’s, and other BOD members on the International impact of AIAA programs and activities, the reasons for successes or failure experienced, and suggestions related to other potential programs, activities, and services • Feedback to the IAC membership and VP-International in F2F meetings • Feedback to the RSAC membership and/or VP-Region VII I nF2F meetings • Feedback to the full BOD as requested • Advise and support the VP-International and other International Directors in operating the IAC and supporting AIAA’s International goals and objectives • Execute the IAC’s interactions with membership and external entities as appropriate (sister societies primarily) • Serve in Liaison function with Standing Committees of the BOD • RSAC, TAC, and any others needed a permanent liaison rep • Help identify Nominees for Assoc. Fellows as needed from the Region VII membership base • Find or give references for the Nominees as needed • Directors outside US can promote AIAA through local chapters • Serve in Liaison functions on a continuous basis • Participate in Partner (MOU) society events/activities as invited • Promote AIAA professional and student memberships • Other tasks as assigned by the VP-International and/or AIAA Board Chair
