Unit Summary From this subject, the student will be able to learn topics that develop the cognitive skills of a student such as short vowel recognition, consonant recognition, alphabet recognition, word families (phonics). It also develops the fine motor skills of a child. Consonants produce sounds that are more consistent and easier to identify than vowels.  Therefore, they make a good starting point for learning to read. There would be activities provided for the child such as consonant printing practice, pre-printing practice, short vowel printing practice, reading and creative writing.  

  3. Essential Questions: How do I communicate with the people around me?

  4. Unit Questions: Why do I need to learn the alphabet? How do I learn how to read?

  5. Content Questions: How many letters are there in the alphabet? What are the short vowel sounds? What are the consonant sounds?

  6. Vision for Unit By creating this unit, we want to Teach the students with the basic foundations of learning with pleasure. Provide the students with the proper instructional material for them to learn the said topic easier and clearer. During this unit, we want our students to Develop their communicating skills. Enhance their reading and writing skills

  7. By using project approaches, on going assessments and CFQ’smy students will : Be encouraged to interact with other students. Be involved in all phases of work: (a) planning, (b) getting started, (c) work in progress, (d) reflection and (e) conclusions learn to be selective in pursuing their own intentions in an environment where learning opportunities abound.

  8. Gauging Student Needs Assessments I will use my Essential and Unit Questions to: Find out how students would recognize the use of the alphabets, vowels and consonant sounds.

  9. My Goals To teach my students the basic lessons in language and arts. To give them an education that they would learn and at the same time they will find pleasure in it. To provide the needs of my students in learning their first lesson in their school life.
