  3. Advisable hotels I advise you stay at the Hilton or at the Hyatt which are both located in our capital city of Port of Spain.

  4. Trinidadian dialect If you plan to stay in Trinidad you must know the basic Trinidadian dialect. Examples: nah means no Doh means do not or don’t Hoss is like how Americans say dawg Wah means what Waz de scene means what’s up De means the

  5. Tourist attractions • Pitch lake of La Brae • Caroni Swamp in Caroni • La Vega • Festivals • Nariva swamp • The Northern Range • Beaches such as Maracas bay, Mayaro bay and Manzanilla bay

  6. Festivals and events • Carnival –the largest event where you parade on the street in beautiful as well as colourful costumes • Annual Tobago boat race

  7. Trinidadian foods • Doubles-the number 1 street food made with barah and channa • Pelau • Callalloo • Curried foods • bake and shark • Aloo pie D o u b l e s

  8. Transportation You can either bring your foreign car with you, rent one or you can travel to wherever (not a good idea if you do not know the area properly) A rental car Bring one

  9. Protection Although many of us may say “walk with a knife to defend yourselves” it is not right and also you will get arrested and charged for stabbing and wounding or killing someone. Pay keen attention to your surroundings and avoid shady characters as well as dark tracks and do not carry large sums of money with you.
