Hall of Justice • Michigan's state flag was first unfurled at the laying of the corner stone at the monument of the Solders' National Cemetery at Gettysburg on the Fourth of July, 1865. • The state flag-Michigan's third since becoming a state in 1837-features the coat of arms showing an eagle holding an olive branch and arrows. An elk and a moose support a shield displaying a man standing on a grassy peninsula. • The following mottos appear on the coat of arms: E Pluribus Unum (From Many, One), Tuebor (I Will Defend) and Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice (If you Seek a Pleasant Peninsula, Look About You). 8. Hall of Justice • Statue of Lady Liberty in the Hall of Justice Learning Center. • Lady Justice arose from a combination of several ancient, mythological sources. Over the years, these sources have combined to become the internationally recognized figure of Lady Justice.
