4. Considerations in Kit DesignDari There are three simple questions that must be asked in designing an medical emergency kit: • Who will be using the kit? • Where will this kit be used? • How long until evacuation to a higher level of care? • Insert Dari AFAMS

5. Who will be using the kit?Dari • Level of training: • Physicians have a vast skill set while Combat Medics are limited to specific protocols. Therefore, physicians can require more medical supplies and equipment. • Specialty qualifications such as Flight Surgeon. They may require specialized equipment. • Insert Dari AFAMS

6. Where will the kit be used?Dari • Types of injuries expected: Gunshot wounds, blast injuries, to simple injuries. • Location: Due to the isolation of a patrol additional equipment may be required. E.g. On patrol vs in hospital • Temperature: Certain medications and medical supplies must be stored at certain temperatures and therefore, may be inappropriate for kit use. • Size/ Weight: The kit bag will be of limited size and must fit all supplies. These kits will be carried and therefore, this restricts the weight of individual pieces of the kit. • Insert Dari AFAMS
