Directional/Positional Concepts. Veronica Hockett 4/1/2008. In/Out. Use a ball and a box. Model and feel the shape of the box. Student will place the ball “IN” the box and “OUT” the box. Open/Closed. Teacher would verbally say the box is open. Have the student touch and feel the box.

In/Out • Use a ball and a box. • Model and feel the shape of the box. • Student will place the ball “IN” the box and “OUT” the box.
Open/Closed • Teacher would verbally say the box is open. • Have the student touch and feel the box. • The student would feel the frame of the box. • Teacher would close the box and the student will feel the difference in the position of the lid. • The teacher would verbally state the box is closed.
Over/Under • Use a fish bowl • Teacher will model concept (hand over hand) • Student will place hand under the water. • Student will place hand over the water.
Top/Bottom • Use a book • Teacher will model concept • Student will touch the top and bottom of the page. • Teacher will confirm understanding of top/bottom of pages
Up/Down • Use stairway • Student will walk “UP” the stairs. • Teacher will identify walking “UP” the stairs. • Student will continue with “DOWN” the stairs. • Continue to practice
