Plan of Implementation • Full Implementation of Agenda 21 • Achieving the internationally agreed development goals • WSSD Plan of implementation will further build on the achievements made since Rio • Planning efforts will promote integration of 3 components of SD – economic development, social development and environmental protection
Objectives • Strengthening commitments to Sustainable Development (SD); • Integration of the economic, social and environmental dimensions of SD in a balanced manner; • Strengthening of the implementation of Agenda 21 as well as capacity building; • Strengthening coherence, coordination & Monitoring;
Promoting the rule of law and strengthening of Government institutions; • Increasing effectiveness and efficiency through limiting overlap and duplication; • Enhancing participation and effective involvement of civil society and other stakeholders as well as promoting transparency • Strengthening capacities for SD at all levels, including the local level;

Concern Issues to be Addressed • WSSD Plan of Implementation involves Galaxy of cross, inter & intra sectoral issues • Lack of Institutional Framework for SD • Good Governance issues including national development policies, democratic institutions responsive to the needs of the people aimed at sustaining econ growth, poverty eradication, employment creation, human rights, rule of law, freedom, peace and security, gender equality
Approach • Assessment and stocktaking of the concerns and issues within the jurisdiction of the MOEF; • Analysis of the best available national data / information related to environment; • Identification of the national priorities based on the broad based information. • Preparation of Plan of Implementation
