Pengenalan • Perkembangan sejak pertengahan 1700an • Mesin yg cuba utk meniru pergerakan dan perlakuan manusia (Humanoid) • Elemen yg sgt berkuasa dlm industri • Laksanakan pelbagai tugas dan operasi • Digunakan bersama peranti, peralatan dan mesin lain • Berintegrasi menjadi satu sistem • Beri kesan tenaga mansia pada semua peringkat (pekerja hingga jurutera dan pengurus pengeluaran)

5. Definsi Robot • Berasal dari Czechoslovakia, Bhs Slavik iaitu ROBOTA oleh Karel Capek • ROBOTA=pekerja • Dimasyhurkan oleh Isaac Asimov (penulis fiksyen sains) melalui buku “I ROBOT” • Perkenalkan Three Laws of Robotics by Asimov • Robot ciptaannya berdasarkan tiga syarat ini.

Revolusi Robot • Awal 80an • Industri automotif membuat pelaburan yang besar dalam kajian robot • Gagal pada mulanya • Awal 90an • Berkembang pesat kerana faktor2: • Kemajuan AI • Hard automation  flexible automation • Masalah keselamatan dalam industri nuklear • Ambil alih kerja2 manusia ditempat yang kerja yang membahayakan, sukar dan kotar
