Sir Andrew Cash visit to the Bassetlaw Place, 4th March 2019
What has happened with children and young people and the services that support them in Bassetlaw over the last 12 months?
We have established a Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Network Here are some of the partners in our network…
Talkzone and LGBT+ services at Centreplace CGL BPL Leisure Services Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Children’s Unit Community nursing Youth Council Healthy Families Teams Tri-health sexual health Focus on young people in Bassetlaw BCVS volunteering The engineering-oriented roadmap must still include product goals and themes, so that everyone understands the overall vision for the product . Public Health Active Notts Bassetlaw Schools
We have strengthened relationships with schools and academies For example, an academy principal is now a member of a primary care network; another PCN has commissioned a teenage counsellor in schools; and schools and education are active partners in ‘Better in Bassetlaw Miles in May initiative’
We have produced a multi-agency and multi-sector inventory of children and young people’s health and wellbeing services in Bassetlaw which is now hosted on websites across health and third sector, and has been shared with all practices and schools Referrals for young people’s talking therapies have increased….
… and the inventory was accessed online by Bassetlaw partners and the public 77 times in January 2019
We hosted a young people’s health and wellbeing marketplace for schools, students and primary care networks And school pastoral care leads are now more linked in with the children and young people’s health and wellbeing network, and GPs are better informed about the services available
From engagement work with patients, we are beginning to understand the impact of adverse childhood experiences, and are responding to these in our services so young people get the right support at the right time
We have engaged young people about what services they need, how to access them and how they currently access health and wellbeing services From the hundreds of participants, we know that young people’s primary source of information about health services is their trusted adults, but that young people don’t always know which NHS service is the right one for their need…
When was the last time you attended A and E? How would you like to access information about health and wellbeing services? 53% went to A&E after being advised by family members 58% had been to A&E in the last 6 months 35% were not comfortable they knew which services to use for what
… so the partners have produced a ‘choose well’ poster designed for Bassetlaw children and young people
We hosted a health and care careers event for 1000 students, with 25 different services, at a local academy More young people have signed up for health and care GCSE options (and their parents want to do it too!)
Children and Young People’s Health and Care Careers Event 1000 students 45 professionals 25 services
The NHS, Nottinghamshire County Council and other partners work actively together on children’s safeguarding, special educational needs and disabilities and looked after children and care leavers
Just a few reasons why children and young people are better in Bassetlaw!
