Support for Learning and Practising Vocabulary • Podcasts The MFL Faculty have created a website for KS3. The site provides an online learning resource. For each year, vocabulary lists are provided on a number of topics. Each list is accompanied by a podcast. Students are able to download the podcast on portable media of their choice or a home PC and listen to them at any time or place. http://arts.twynhamschool.com/languages • MacBook: GarageBand and iWeb • Online games Students can practise their vocabulary using the online games on the KS3 website. There are four types of games to exercise their knowledge of new words and their spelling. http://arts.twynhamschool.com/french • http://web2tools-mai08.pbworks.com/Spellmaster
Home Study • PowerPoint with embedded sound (not linked) The MFL Faculty has used Microsoft Producer to facilitate home study. However, students have encountered problems recently so alternatives are being explored to ensure that home study is done effectively. PowerPoint with embedded sound can be used to support the study of: • Open Interaction Tasks (New GCSE / Edexcel) • Tenses • Grammar (AS / AQA) • Pratique de la grammaire
Creativity and Confidence • VoiceThread VoiceThread is a fabulous classroom tool which has great potential in Teaching and Learning. VoiceThread is an online media album that can hold any type of media (audio, images, videos or text) and allows students to make comments in five different ways: voice with a telephone, voice with a webcam, voice with a microphone, text and audio file. VoiceThread is used by students to: • practise their GCSE Role Plays • take part in group discussions • practise topics studied in class. • create their own album and invite others to comment on their VoiceThread using the TL • Year 8 work • http://voicethread.com
