Y3 CURRICULUM • In year 3, we teach in a creative and topic based way. • There is an emphasis on termly topic based learning. • The 3 main topics are: • The Ancient Egyptians • The River Great Ouse • The history of King’s Lynn
GREAT EXPECTATIONS Coming to Y3 is not just a change of uniform. We have high expectations of each and every one of our children to:
GREAT EXPECTATIONS • Aspireto great things • Believein themselves • Consistently work hard • Value success • Show growing maturity • Be organised • Take an active rolein their ownlearning
INDEPENDENCE Y3 also sees the school expect your child to become more independent. This could be personally or in terms of their learning. Children need to be ensure that they:
INDEPENDENCE Haveeverything in school that they need (reading book, reading record, homework, homework diary, PE kit) Can eat, drink and toilet at break times. Take home and return letters from the school. Show initiative. Look after the school uniform / belongings.
CLOAKROOM We don’t have a massive cloakroom, but…
CLOAKROOM …it soon gets full and very messy if the children don’t look after their belongings carefully! This explains why we have a lot of ‘lost’ property!
ATTENDANCE Very important and is on school reports. The school’s target is 97%+. Termly certificates awarded for 100% attendance. Being late counts against attendance. From September 2013, Headteachers are no longer allowed to authorise holiday during term time. Inform the school if your child is going to be absent.
