Task Force Mission • To make George Mason a “world class” university in the next 3-5 years • Focus on the capital campaign and other time sensitive issues • Propel selected programs into the top 25 and even the top 10.
Work of the Task Force To encourage and support George Mason through: • Publicity • Advocacy • Participation • Inclusion The Roundtable’s Task Force is part of a larger Joint Task Force that includes: • Fairfax Chamber of Commerce • Northern Virginia Technology Council
Why George Mason? • Produces more graduates (baccalaureate and graduate) than any other University in the Commonwealth • 75%+ graduates stay in the region • Grown with the economy from 1972 with minimal support from the state and private sector • George Mason’s success AND the success of Northern Virginia businesses will make both “world class”
What is a “World Class” University? A University that is ranked in the top ten in any, or all categories of: • Research, • Faculty (teaching and research), • Students (undergrad and grad), • Community and alumni support, and • Management.
What Has Been Accomplished • First letter to all members of Roundtable, Fairfax Chamber, and NVTC • Coordination of a “resolution” for all organizations to endorse and sign • Copy of letter provided to all members of the Northern Virginia Delegation
What Still Needs to be Done • Full support from all organizations • Keep funding “equity” in front of legislature • Find major events to highlight George Mason in multiple organizations
