  12. Auditor’s Report on 2005 I have audited and found correct the 2005 Financial Statements for the Mississippi Lakes Association presented to me by Bryon Edwards on May 17/06.   21. Director Reports • First up is Ed Carew reporting on :- • Marker Buoys • Water Level Monitoring • Lake Stewardship • Water Management Plan • Floating Sign Mississippi Lakes Association

Marker Buoys – Ed Carew • “Basic” pontoon boat purchased by MLA for marker buoy deployment • 37 markers installed on June 4th • 3 more installed on June 9th • boaters should use extreme caution, especially in the river where currents (due to high water levels) may displace the markers • Marker Buoy locations are shown on Website and Newsletter Maps • Would like volunteers to help with fall removal Mississippi Lakes Association

Water Levels – Ed Carew • Co-operative effort with MVC • MLA volunteers provide weekly rainfall data to MVC • MVC provides water level data to MLA • Graph updated weekly on MLA Website • includes year to date levels, 2005 levels, historical average levels and target range • useful to determine whether water level changes may affect docks and boat lifts Mississippi Lakes Association

Lake Stewardship – Ed Carew • MVC hosts annual lake stewards meetings • 2006 annual Meeting held April 31 • Representatives from lakes in watershed • Many common issues from other lake associations: • high property taxes • liability insurance • water quality, weeds, invasive species • environmental issues (climate change, boat wake damage) Mississippi Lakes Association

  27. Floating Billboard – Ed Carew • MLA received many complaints about floating sign on lake last summer • MLA led initiative to have sign removed • Earlier this year, MLA met with BIA to resolve matter • BIA agreed NOT to re-install sign Mississippi Lakes Association

Boating Regulations - Bryon • Remember in 2009 YOU need a boaters card As of September 15, 2009 all boaters will be required to have the Pleasure Craft Operator Card in order to operate a powered watercraft. There is no grandfather clause or age exemption – this law applies to all boaters. Powered watercraft includes watercraft fitted with any size motor – even a trolling motor • www.tc.gc.ca/BoatingSafety Mississippi Lakes Association

Water Quality – Chris Winter • Last Sample in 2002 by MVC, next 2007 • MVC – Watershed Watch Program • Clarity with secchi disk readings. • Total Phosphorus within the Euphotic (near surface) zone and 1 metre off the bottom (Water Sample). • Composite Chlorophyll A and pH sampling(Water Sample). • Dissolved Oxygen and Temperature Profiles (DO Meter). • MOE(ON) - Lake Partner Program • Clarity with secchi disk readings • Total Phosphorus within Euphotic zone(Water Sample). Water Quality Program – Chris Winter • MVC staff will produce a “State of the Lake Report” at the end 2006. • MVC will provide site survey recommendations. • Training assistance for MLA volunteers. • Sample analysis to be included in the above report. • MVC staff will also help MLA develop a Self -directed Monitoring program with projects such as Loon Watch, Frog Watch, Ice Watch. • Cost of water quality program $1,000.00.
