African Animals • African Buffalo, Cheetah, African Elephants, Hippopotamus, Giraffes, African Lion, African Leopard, Rhinoceros, Warthog, Wildebeest , Crocodile & Zebra. These are the names of some African animals.
What Is A Reptile? • A reptile is a cold blooded animal. • Most reptiles are vicious creatures . • There are about 8,000 species of known reptiles alive today. • The first reptiles appeared approximately 340 million years ago during the Carboniferous Period.
African Buffalo • African Buffalo : they are found in Northern and Southern Savanna. • They have a large head, a thick neck, a broad chest and strong legs.
Cheetah & African Elephant • The cheetah is a large cat (of the Felidae family) that generally has a body length of 1.3m (50 inches) and a tail of 80 cm (33 inches). • Its top speedis about 120kph. • They live in grassland in East Africa. • Elephants are the largest land animals living in the world today. • Due to their size, elephants do not have any predators in the wild; even a keen hunter such as a lion may not tryto attack them.
The Hippopotamus lives in Africa. They are the most dangerous animals in Africa. The giraffe is from the Giraffidae family which has only one other member, the Okapi. The giraffe has a very long list of common names to account for the high number of subspecies. They live in Savanna woodland and in grasslands. Hippopotamus & Giraffes
Zebra are a member of the horse family. Their diet is grass and plants. They live in grasslands, Savannas, woodlands and scrublands. The African Lion weighs 330 to 500 pounds. Their habitats are grasslands, Savannas, dense bush and woodlands. Zebra & African Lion
The African Leopard Habitats are dense bush in rocky surrounding. It weighs up to 130 pounds. Rhinoceros lives in grasslands and open Savannas. Their life size is about 60 inches at the shoulder. African Leopard & Rhinoceros
The life cycle of theelephant can be categorised into 3 main periods – the baby, the adolescent and the adult elephant. Like humans, each stage lasts for an extended period of time and very distinct developmental milestones characterise each level of maturity. Life cycle of a African elephants
