  3. SAHEL REGION • The Sahel region is a dry grassland south of the Sahara.

  4. Congo Basin • The Congo basin in southwest Africa is made up of rain forests. • It is located south of the Congo river in Africa.

  5. Great Rift Valley • The Great Rift Valley is in Eastern Africa and has high cliffs and rich soil.

  6. Savannas • Savannas are wide plains that have both a dry season and a rainy season.

  7. Mount Kilimanjaro • Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa.

  8. Lake Tanganyika • Lake Tanganyika is the second deepest lake in the world.

  9. Lake Victoria • Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world.

  10. Africa’s Rivers • Nile • Congo • Zambize • Africa’s rivers provide hydroelectric power for surrounding areas.

  11. Deserts • The two largest deserts in Africa are the Sahara in the north and the Kalahari in the South. • Today, Africa is experiencing desertification, or the advancement of desert. • The Sahara Desert is continually expanding southward.
