  2. Martin Luther King Jr. • He was the prime mover of the Montgomery bus boycott. • He had a large impact on ending segregation. • At age 35, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. • At age 39, he was assassinated, but his inspiration to stop segregation is still with us today.

Brown vs Board of Education • Court case between Brown Family and the Topeka Board of Education, Brown argued that it’s unfair for his daughter to walk 2 miles to a black school even though there was a white school 5 blocks away from her house. • Court decided that “separate but equal” cannot be fair. • “Separate but equal” makes one race feel inferior to the other.

  17. Central High • Central High was one of the finest schools in Little Rock, Arkansas. • When it was decided that Central High would finally integrate, the nine black students needed to be escorted out of the school by the military to avoid angry parents and protestors.
