2. The federal government provides funding to states each year for Title One. To receive funding, each state must submit a plan describing: what all children are expected to know and be able to do the high-quality standards of performance that all children are expected to meet ways to measure progress State educational agencies send the money to school districts based on the numbers of low- income families. How Title One Works • The local school district (called a Local Education Agency) identifies eligible schools and provides Title One resources.

3. Your Title One program needs you to help: determine program goals. plan and carry out programs. evaluate programs. work with your child at home and volunteer at Faust. The annual Title One meeting is the place to start! Learn more about Title One Learn about your rights and responsibilities as a Title One parent Learn about parenting skills workshops Meet other parents and teachers Begin a process of communication and cooperation between parents and schools The School-Parent-Student Compact states the goals and responsibilities of both parents and schools. The School-Parent-Student Engagement Policy helps parents understand and take part in the school’s efforts.

4. What Should I Know About Title One? Children achieve more in school and feel better about themselves. Parents understand their children better. Parents can also have more say about their child’s education. Teachersbenefit from the suggestions and support that parents offer.

5. School, Parent, and Student Engagement Policy • It includes how to: • engage parents/guardians in process of School Improvement Planning. • provide coordination and technical assistance to the schools in planning effective parental engagement in order to improve academic achievement and school performance. • build capacity for strong parental engagement programs for each school.

6. School, Parent, and Student Engagement Policy • The policy also includes: • how parents are engaged in the development of the School, Parent, and Student Engagement Policy. • how parents are engaged in the evaluation and revision of the School, Parent, and Student Engagement Policy.

7. Title One School-Parent Compact • The Compact states the goals and responsibilities of the students, the parents, and the school. • The Compact is one way to help carry out the school’s policy. • To become engaged in reviewing the School-Parent Compact, please attend the monthly PTG meetings.

Faust Elementary SchoolSchool Performance Data • Faust will be assigned a designation based on performance indicators as part of the state’s School Performance Profile. • Indicators of Academic Achievement - This category represents forty percent of the school academic performance score.  • Indicators of Closing the Achievement Gap - All student scores are used to define how well a school is making progress toward proficiency of all students.This category represents forty percent of the school academic performance score. • Indicators of Academic Growth/PVAAS - Measures the school’s impact on the academic progress of groups of students from year-to-year. This category represents ten percent of the school academic performance score. • Other Academic Indicators - Assesses factors that contribute to student achievement (e.g., graduation rate, promotion rate, attendance rate). This category represents ten percent of the school academic performance score.

10. School Improvement Plan(Comprehensive Plan) • The School Improvement Plan (Comprehensive Plan) is the school’s roadmap. It details: • where the school is now (data) • the school’s goals • how the school will get there (plan) • how the school will know if the plan is working (review and revise) • To become engaged in reviewing the School Improvement Plan (Comprehensive Plan), please attend the monthly PTG meetings.

11. ADDITIONAL RIGHTS In addition to the parental responsibilities of participating in the development of the Parent and Family Engagement Policy, School, Parent, and Student Compact, and School Improvement/Comprehensive Plan, parents have additional Rights to Know.

12. School and District Requirements • Parents must be engaged in the discussions concerning how the funds are spent. • Schools must strive to build capacity of parents to help their students achieve at high standards.

13. Teacher And Paraprofessional Qualifications • All teachers and instructional paraprofessionals have to be qualified. • Currently, all Faust staff are highly qualified.

14. Right to Know Qualifications • You have the right to request the qualifications of your child’s teacher and any instructional paraprofessionals who work with your child. • To learn the qualifications of these staff members, please make an appointment with the principal.

15. Right to Know Letter You will be notified when your child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified.
