Bramco Long Wall Face Control, Communication, Pre-Start Warning & Monitoring System
Design Concept • A system which embodies the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Acts and duty of care. • A system which is operationally Totally Fail Safe. • A system which is a series of building blocks. • A powerful system which offers the total requirement for controlling and monitoring Long Wall Face Conveyors including voice communications. • A system able to accommodate many and various types of control elements to operate the face equipment and the varying enviromental installation conditions.
Features • Dual stop/start circuits. • Provision to isolate mains power from any stop/start station along the system. • 250 monitored locations along the conveyor with up to 16 points per location. • Multi-point temperature monitoring/control of rotating equipment along the length of the conveyor system. • Gas warnings available in both visual and audible forms along the system. • Fully fail safe operation.
Features continued . . • Suitable for use in hazardous (gaseous) locations. • Control and sequencing of other entities along the system. • Broadcast Voice Communication with monitored amplifier status along the complete system. • Monitored Pre-Start Warning along the complete system. • Remote screens available along the system for interigation, display of system status and control.
Features continued . . • Pre-Start Warning using the amplifiers or other Light/Sound units. • Optional Voice Synthesiser for fault broadcast from each amplifier along the system. • RS232/485 Serial Port ie. PLC and monitoring system compatibility. • Optional PABX dial facility from each amplifier along the system. • Identification of any and all faults on the system at any one time, Visually displayed on the main screen and any remotes screens fitted, PLUS audible broadcast of each condition across the amplifier system.
Technical Detail • The system is DIGITAL employing an RS485 data stream operating at 9600 Baud. • The power for all elements on the system is derived from the ICMS Control module and supplied through the single cable. • The cable is a customer choice of a a. 6 core armoured PVC Sheathed cable b. 6 core screened, PVC insulated and urethane sheathed cable • The dual stop/start circuits permit safe operation of the face on either or both circuits in event of electrical problems on either.
Technical Detail continued . . • All electronic components external to the control module and barrier are encapsulated against moisture and grime. • The system may comprise 1 or 2 control modules for the 2 face conveyors as per customer preferance. • The system is fully plugged including the amplifiers and/or sounders. The Bramco 6 pin brass waterproof plug is standard on all cables. We offer an alternative plug as a customer choice being a Shaltbau glass filled nylon 6 pin IP 65 as used utilised by the German Rail Transport Department
Technical Detail continued . . • 250 monitored and/or trip locations along the system with 16 analogue or digital points per location and will accept inputs from other than Bramco elements. • Provision to monitor and/or control other equipment along the conveyors, in addition to the normal functions, such as chain tensioner, blocked transfers, gas detection, dust measurement etc. • The pre-start warning may be any combination of our sounders, 4 button amplifiers and 16 button amplifiers. All are monitored for correct operation. The 16 button amplifier is the PABX dial unit
Technical Detail continued . . • Our system is totally fail safe. • The system checks the integrity of all Pre-Start Warning units be they Amplifiers or Sounders. • An electronic barrier is employed to protect the system against electrical surges and short circuits in cables and connection areas. • The system offers a very comprehensive self diagnostic display for all faults with the exception of cable shorts between conductors.
General The Bramco ICMS System is designed to meet the requirements of AS1755. The ICMS system for Long Wall installations employs the same elements as used on any conveyor system. The system is Approved and Certified for use in gaseous areas of Coal Mines. Every element in the system is interrogated every .3 of a second. Any discrepancy will cause a stoppage of the conveyor just as a change of state or trip will do. All inputs to the nodes on the line are normally closed in the run state. The analogue inputs have provision to set a warning point, a trip point and a reset point.
General continued . . Of the cables offered the Armoured Cable relies on the armouring for wear protection and damage where the alternative cable is constructed from a very tough Urethane material. The communications port on the module supplies information in Modbus format at a rate of 9600BAUD. An ethernet interface can be supplied if required.
The BRAMCO INTEGRATED CONTROL and MONITORING SYSTEM (ICMS) has been supplied and installed on over 100 systems in Australia and recently 8 systems in South Africa. We currently have one Short Wall system at Gretley Colliery. Some systems have been operating for 8 years. The Bramco Conveyor Control System is both powerful and flexible with the latest in self diagnostics. All trips and faults on the system are displayed on the control screen and or voice broadcast on the amplifiers.
