Thirty Eight APEC Transportation Working Group Meeting, Bali, Indonesia 1 – 5 July 2013 Potential of Cruise Industry • Global Cruise Passengers • achieved a significant growth during the 1970s mainly in the US • continuously expanding worldwide by doubling in the last decade >> 10.0 mil (2000) → 19.8 mil(2011) • Ratio of Cruise Passengers • slightly less than 1% of the population in Europe • slightly less than 4% of the population in the US • against approx. 0.06% in the Asia-Pacific region >> significant increase is expected especially in the Asia-Pacific region Promotion of cruise ship port calls can significantly reinvigorate regional economies and human exchange among APEC countries

(Japan will provide a common format according to members’ request.) 【Phase 2】 Provision of the information through integrated website ・Each member state arranges a website which integrates and provides the information collected in Phase 1. ・Also, APEC TPTWG secretariat establishes a portal page and links to each states’ website to provide all necessary information in an integrated manner. * No special budget excluding the expenses for the establishment of the portal page and the manpower of the secretariat is expected by APEC. provision of the information contributes to port authorities’ and private companies’ effective promotion activities
